Too true! I accidentally killed a lightning bug the other night. I walked into my kitchen (dimly lit by a nightlight) and noticed an insect on the wall. I immediately squashed it with a napkin because I thought it was a @#$%^ cockroach! But when I looked at it before throwing in in the outside trash, I realized it was a lightning bug!
I feel so bad! And I’m afraid I’m going to have bad luck now :-(

Not a real ladybug: they have 7 spots, not 2.
Fake bug! Sad.

A dear friend of mine wouldn’t be happy. He was actually afraid of ladybugs.

I knew a kitten named Ladybug. A couple months later the pompoms appeared, and now his name is just “Bug”

Housefly, mosquito, earwig, spider, yellowjacket. None of which are likely to evoke a “happy” reaction.
