How old is Ruthie, anyway?

When I was in 4th grade, we used to have TIMED multiplication tests. You know, 1×1 up to 12×12. I don’t remember the amount of time given. I want to guess 2 minutes, but whatever it was, you had to KNOW this stuff. No time for figuring it out.

“Antidisestablishmentarianism is a big word. Can you spell it?”

“I …. T”

She said all Ruthie’s answers were to be Rapid Fire. Ruthie did as she was told.

We discovered our son memorized the flash cards when he shouted out the answer before the card was shown. Had to shuffle them after each pass.

There was a trial eons ago, where one of the witnesses kept nodding his head instead of actually answering out loud. The judge told him all of his answers needed to be oral. When the lawyer asked him where he had been on the night of June 8th, the guys answered “oral”.

Now whether or not this is true or just an urban legend is up for grabs, but there are adults who are just this literal.

You had to know that was coming.
