verne: I don't have a driver's license, so I can't vote. RJ: You need a license? Verne: yep. because of all the voter fraud that doesn't exist. RJ: If there isn't a problem, then why do you need a license? verne: Because they think we'll vote against their candidates. RJ: Why not just get your license? Verne: that't not the point...the point is, there shouldn't be any barriers to voting. hammy: i've got my license! RRRRRRRR....wak! verne: okay, maybe one barrier.

Actually there were some investigations. Showed 10 cases of in-person voter fraud (the kind the photo ID prevents) in the last 10 years. So yeah, it’s virtually non-existent.

@Nabuquduriuzhur said“What about 12 million illegals in California that dominate their elections?"
JonnyBGood said@Nabuquduriuzhur“Got some documentation on that? If you’re an illegal in this country, the LAST things you want to do is call attention to yourself by trying to vote.”
Are you kidding? Nabuquduriuzhur doesn’t bother with facts, especially when they conflict with his ideology. The total population in California is 37 million. To say that a full one-third of the state are illegals would be a stretch even for Limbaugh. There were 2.6 million illegals in Calif in 2009, down from 2.9 million in 2008. The total illegal population for the ENTIRE US was only 11 million, less that what he was spouting for Calif alone. (LA Time, Sacramento Bee, LA Almanac). I suspect his Oregon numbers are equally exaggerated.mjmsprt40 about 12 years ago
I live in a Chicago suburb. Being dead is no excuse for not voting, in fact some people cast their first vote after they’ve assumed room temperature.

The complaints against voter ID fraud are simply not valid once research is done. People, do your research, look up Rhode Island Senator, Harold Metts. He’s a black Democrat who backed a voter ID law in RI. The greatest support for the RI Voter ID law came from minority voters. It’s actually a good protection for them. Senator Harold Metts seems to believe that voter fraud is a very real thing.

even the bush admin did a study of voter fraud, and the result is virtually non-existent fraud.

Another political joke in a comic that never used to be political. Do I have to leave until mid-November?

Strange how you forget the voter fraud found in Minnesota, or any logical reasoning

You do NOT need a drivers license. You DO need an ID. This is nothing but propaganda from this idiot cartoonist. You need an ID to do just about ANYTHING in this country. Most of the time, you need an I to go to the doctor, get insurance, get on a plane, get your utilities turned on, buy a house….There’s actually very little (controlled by the federal government) in which you DO NOT need an ID. So why NOT voting??Because the party of fraud, ACORN etc… want anybody and his brother to go in there and be able to vote, as many times as possible.
GeorgeJohnson about 12 years ago
Oh, and voter fraud is quite hard to prove. There ARE instances where people have been busted for it. And NO, I do NOT have a link, google it yourself, I don’t save links to every dang thing out there. That is exactly WHY we need voter ID, because it IS easy to cheat and hard to prove.I’ll ask you to prove the same thing, where’s your links to the proof that there IS no fraud? Can’t do it because it doesn’t exist except places like “politico” or “mediamatters” which is nothing but more left wing propaganda.
jbmlaw01 about 12 years ago
The leftist trope goes on. Just do a Bing or Google search on “more votes than registered voters.” Always in places controlled by leftists, but never evidence of fraud in the view of the leftists controlling those cities.

The MinnPost has this nicely reported on their site, along with sidebar stories that reflect the likely outcomes of the proposed Voter ID law in that state, as well as legal and political commentary.

It’s sad when a once-funny comic stretches into the political arena to get a few laughs. That’s what editorials are for. and some actually pretend to be fair. Most cartoons that branch into politics are one-sided, and that gets pretty boring. Ho-hum. Time for a nap.

I liked this better when it wasn’t so obviously politically based. I like the humor, but don’t find funny at all the idea that you need id to drive, to buy liquor, to join the military, to gain access to a concert, to buy toothpaste online, but this idiot thinks that anyone should be able to vote, regardless of the law, the rights of the rest of the voting constituency, just so that they can sneak in illegals, vote multiple times, vote for others that have chosen not to express their right. Let’s leave the comics for humor, not your political stance.

It won’t mean a thing if your state cannot swing. Only 534 anonymous elites are permitted to elect the president and only in designated “swing states” is there even non-binding influence from The People. Concentrate on congressional, state, and local races where your vote may actually count. For president, cast a protest vote for Jill Stein and the Green Party. They want to change the Constitution so The People can actually vote for their president – first, second, and however many down the line you want, the least one is dropped and lower choices added in until someone gets a majority – that way you get a winner most can live with rather than one most don’t want.

Whether or not voter fraud exists I think IDs should be required for voting. Make them free for low income and give people at least two years to obtain them.
If someone shows up at a poling place without an ID then make them fill out an affidavit attesting to their identity. If the election is close then these are the votes that will get challenged and citizenship must be proved to have the vote stand.

Voter fraud doesn’t exist because of the measures we take against it.
If we didn’t require people to have a drivers license, well let’s just submit a few extra* votes for Romney.

I would take acception to this. There should be some stipulations to voting such as, said voter must be a United States Citizen, they should be at least 18 years of age and given the results of the last election, they should have to pass some sort of intelligence test.
