There were a number of earlier strips about Violet baking mud pies. Was the reason that she faded away from the strip that Schulz couldn’t think of more mud pie jokes?
I remember there was one in which Lucy made mudpie sandwiches. Lucy: Would you like yours with or without? CB: With or without what? Onions? Lucy: No, crabgrass!
When I was about 10 I had a friend, Taffy, who had freckles that she hated. I told Taffy that I had read in a magazine that mud packs were good for complexions (yeah, I got the definition kinda wrong). At the end of my driveway was a PERFECT mud-puddle spot, so we both slathered our face with mud. Not only were our mothers not amused, but it did nothing for Taffy’s freckles. LOL
When my sisters and I were kids, my dad made us a “sandbox” by rototilling part of the yard and putting boards around it. (Bottomless sandbox! With “sand” that holds together for digging holes and has fun stuff like worms and rocks in it!) When he had to drain the pool he’d tell us to get into our bathing suits, then drain the water into the “dirtbox.” Mud pits are fun!

My twins between the ages of 3 and 8. They are long haired red heads but no difference.
