My 2 sisters did this to me every Saturday morning! I wouldget up at 7:00AM to watch cartoons while having breakfast. They would get up around 10:00AM and walk past me likeI wasn’t even there and change the channel on the TV. WhenI got up to change back to my cartoons, one of them wouldtake my chair and the other would stretch out on the couchand hog the whole thing!

The New York Mets are a major league baseball team. At the time this cartoon was written, they were a fairly new team living in the shadow of the big, famous and powerful Yankees. The Mets did not make winning a habit. Well, except for one year.

Wish I knew that rule when my little brother and I were kids. As it was, I thought it was the other way around. At least, that’s the way my older brother put it. I always ended up having to give up the TV to him.

I didn’t think of the baseball team. I was thinking of the licensing deal with the Met Life insurance company that Peanuts has, but couldn’t figure out its relevance to this strip.

This was written when the N.Y. Mets were a consistent loser. And, I guess, a lot hasn’t changed over the years.

The Mets finished with over a hundred losses five out of their first six years of existence (1962-1967). Ironically, two years after this strip was written, the Mets won the World Series.

Good thing Linus — because now it will be Lucy who ruins her eyes by sitting so close to the TV.

Interesting to note, while the NY Mets likely hold the record for the most games lost, they also had the highest attendance records during this time..Just goes to show, some folks like to support and cheer for losers…

@Snoopy_FanSame here! I am pleased our musical tastes are very similar too. Speaking of music… What an adorable music video! I liked that. My Mum likes Michael Bublé. I tease her by saying “You fancy him don’t you?” Hahahahahaha! Thanks very much for the video. It was endearing and actually quite funny too.-I am very sorry about your 2 uncles. My condolences. I don’t ever want to try to smoke. I have tasted alcohol a few times and didn’t like it. The last time I had alcohol was in May 2013 when my ex neighbour had her 80th Birthday party. I had actually donated blood that very same day. I had lemonade in my drink. I only had the one drink by the way, I didn’t go over the top. Now I’ve went teetotal and won’t touch alcoholic beverages now.-I am very happy your Dad is healthy and well at 88. Some people aren’t responsible with their diets and don’t go for regular check ups…etc. I applaud your Dad for being responsible with his health. -I always look forward to your responses just like I’m sure you look forward to mine. I enjoy communicating with most of the Cappers about all sorts of things but I have to admit, I enjoy communicating with you just a teeny bit more. Ssssh… Don’t tell the Cappers though! -Another Bobby Darin song for you. No doubt you’re familiar with this one! I absolutely love it. Link-You take care of yourself and hope you’re having a fun weekend!Hugs & Kisses.
