Been my experience that dogs wonât turn down cat food and it has to be put out of their reach. Course itâs also been my experience that a certain female will eat the dogsâ food if their dishes are on her counter while their being filled.
Most dogs love cat food, but supposedly itâs too high in protein and fat and will just make them obese, along with all the problems that entails, if you give it to them regularly. Cats will just shrivel up and die if you feed them dog food. Weird how that works when theyâre both bred from natural apex carnivores.
Supper time, and the livinâ is easy.Charlieâs cominâ, and the dish is piled high (trombone: wah-wah-wah-wah)Your stomachâs empty, but your dinner is readySo hush little Snoopy, donât you cry.
If I remember correctly, there is a similar Peanuts comic where Charlie Brown says pretty much the same thing to Snoopy after Snoopy has already eaten the food. Snoopy says something about âYou canât feed cat food to a DOGâ and proceeds to imagine that heâs getting sick, DEATHLY sickâŠ.only to have Charlie Brown reappear and tell him that he (Charlie Brown) was âjust kiddingâ. Maybe that comic appears tomorrow?
This is the first of a 4 week 1968 Sunday arc where Snoopy gets cat food instead of dog food then in the second week (running next Sunday) Snoopy throws the cat food to the cat next door even in Snoopyâs supper dish!
In the wild cats eat the fresh flesh of their kill, wild dogs eat all of their kill, hooves, pelts, and the crack the bones for marrow and chew up the bones for the calcium. Cats need richer food to power their muscles, while dogs digest slower.

Out of all the good things in Snoopyâs life, I guess his owner must not be one of themâŠ

Dogs will only eat cat food if they think that they are stealing it from a cat.

Cat food contains copper sulphate, which is bad for anyone other than cats (it used to be a herbicide).
