I’m sitting here in the cold, snow is on the ground outside. I feel like I oughta be rink side to watch Snoopy’s game.

They’re building (and arguing over) a bridge named after Howe up here in Detroit.

Snoopy went to a fight the other night, and a hockey game broke out while he was there!

Only Snoopy could get away with a joke like that.

I would give Gordie a high five.

A bit early for a “gift exchange” there, Snoopster. I doubt any of the skating Scouts would be as foolhardy.

Many don’t realize that Mr. Hockey – though he retired in 1980 – signed a 1-day contract with the Detroit Vipers (IHL) in 1997. At the age of 69 he skated one shift making him the only player to play a professional game in each of 6 decades. (40’s – 90’s)

It was a publicity stunt of course. The Red Wings were on their way to their first Stanley Cup in over 40 years and Detroit had hockey fever something fierce.

I was living in the area at the time and though I hadn’t paid much attention to hockey up until then, the excitement was contagious. It was nearly impossible to NOT become a life-long Red Wings / Gordie Howe fan.

Of course there’s always Sydney Crosby.

maybe he can hope for bobby Orr.

One thing I like about these reruns are that every now and then, they remind me of how things used to be. I don’t live in the past, but it is nice to go back and visit the old neighborhood every now and then.

When this cartoon was first published, Snoopy could go to the WHA and wait for Gordie Howe to make his comeback.

Aww! A sign of respect between hockey players…

Gordie was famous everywhere, but if he’s in heaven, I ain’t going there. I hate being near anything cold like ice. Unless it’s in a glass of scotch

If I recall, he DID make a couple more game appearances, allowing him to be an active player in, I think, six decades… :-)

Snoopy giving Gordie an elbow? He would have wound up in the parking lot.

I was lucky enough to be in Houston when Gordy played with his two sons with the Aeros. And when Bobby Hull came to town with the Winnipeg Jets, those were some games.

Bring out the Zamboni.

this is a repeat of an old strip. Now we have 2 versions of Peanuts Begins.

The classic Gordie Howe hat trick: a goal an assist and a fight. Back then you didn’t have the designated cementheads, everyone stood up for themselves.

Stan Mikita – all the good ones are gone. No mask and no teeth but played wonderfully!
