My father never smoked, rarely swore (not more than “damn” or “hell”, anyway), but he always had a beer when he got home from work & sometimes my parents would go out & they’d have a drink; they always had a liquor cabinet as well. However, my dad is the soul of integrity. He was Alderman-At-Large for a few years in our city, until someone actually ran against him. he was too honest to make political promises that he didn’t know if he could keep or not, and his opponent made grand promises, so Dad lost.
