I don’t think that I’d want to send my kids to summer-camp in California, (where this strip takes place). Under Governor Newsom and the California Teachers Union I wouldn’t know what is going on in Kid’s Summer-Camp.
strange times in California as we choose between a retired Olympic Champion and our all “emergency “ powerful leader. We usually have actors! Pray for us please!
I never went to summer camp as a kid; I just stayed home & played with my friends. Heck, I didn’t even KNOW anyone who actually went to camp! My girls went to a day-camp, which was just a simpler phrase, because one didn’t send kids their ages at the time to Day Care.
I’d say that Sally is pretty young to go to a sleep away summer camp. Their parents are never around, yet their parents want to send them away for the summer. Seems wrong.
It was the only way i could lake canoe, range practice with a Mossberg .22 centerfire rifle, or a crossbow, ride a bay mare up into the hill forest for some me time.. Summer in the early ’60’s.
Never went to summer camp, never even heard of such a thing, but my school district (University City) in the 6th grade the entire class did go to camp for a week. My parents moved to our new house out in West County (St. Louis) just before my 6th grade, but arranged so I could still attend school in U. City just so I could go to camp … well also so I could still be with my friends. I had a few back then.

It’s strange. For someone who’s a loser, he had more luck with the little red-haired girl than she’s had with Linus.

And what will you think if the little Red Haired Girl does not go to camp.

With Sally’s and Charlie’s lucks, Lucy will be jawboning them to go to camp at any rate as she’s done in the past. :/

Last summer Chuck became known as “Sack” and actually became camp president. I wonder what this summer holds?

Fail the physical… So he’s too healthy not to go to camp. Only Charlie Brown could give himself a compliment with such an unhappy expression.

And this was years before the COVID safety protocols for Summer Camps.

This strip has been pretty consistent in how it’s comparing summer camp to being drafted.

If Charlie Brown would fail the physical, then Sally would probably fail the mental

Sally wants to stay home and Charlie Brown to go to camp so she can move all her stuff into his room . . .

Maybe it’s a reference to boot camp. You’ve got to pass the physical for that.

How is this easier than just NOT applying for summer camp?
