At least she didn’t fall asleep on top of her notebook. It might have gotten locked/tangled in her hair. Then she would have been walking around with a notebook stuck to the side of her head.
8th grade I had some major health issues. I tried to continue school but it was hard. So much blood work, anemia and more. I slept for 20-21hours out of every 24. Every teacher but one sympathized and worked with me. I talked to the guidance councilor and explained that it was not staying up late or so on. He told me they were full aware of what was going on and were also in touch with mom and the docs.
My high school geometry teacher was in mid-lecture when she suddenly stopped talking and stared over at one side of the room. We all looked, and there was one of the most disruptive kids in the class (I was the other one) with his head down on the desk, sound asleep. One of the other students went to nudge him awake, but the teacher just smiled and said, “No, let him sleep.”
No, she doesn’t take catnaps. She just perfers to sleep through school rather than learn. Unless, that is, you want to change the lesson plan to baseball, football (American football, that is), basketball, ice hockey, and motocross. Then she’ll be the top student in the class.

Patty’s situation isn’t exactly ideal at times, so it makes sense for her to miss out on sleep the way she does.

No need to be polite. Your teaching is so boring, I’m actually worried I’ll sleep and never wake up.
