Actually this is one of the clever ones.

I got a job offer from a company in Montana that makes wicker products. The pay is good but I don’t know if I want to pack up and move..So should I stay where I am now, or go to Helena Handbasket?

I’m not a rap fan…but I have to say…“some music group named N.W.A.” (!) was one of the most famous and influential hip hop groups ever…and the pioneers of gangsta rap back in the 1980’s, . The members included Dr. Dre and Ice Cube.

I can’t even post the meaning of the acronym, N.W.A. or a link to the video of “Straight Outta Compton” without probably running afoul of the GoComics censors…The lyrics are vulgar, misogynistic, and violent….threatening, blasphemous….expletive-laden…

Not my thing…but I can’t deny their talent for what they do… (even if I sometimes wish they didn’t… )and to those who think it’s OK to rap about AK47’s, drugs, killing cops, and having “bitches” …they were brilliant pioneers.

I really enjoyed the movie with that title. Changed a lot of people’s perspectives on the Black experience—at least as lived and told by NWA.

The only NWA I know is the one Ted Turner used to own: the National Wrestling Alliance.

Just 1 fact here , 1rap is crap , the sooner the world admits it & quits coddling those violent gangsters , it will move on the way of disco , & this planet may become a more peaceful place ( quieter for sure ) . And that’s all I’ve got to say about that !

I understood the “Straight Out of Compton” reference, but what’s an original G? I assume Rat’s guess isn’t what Pastis meant.

Northwest Afternoon (TV show) and Northwest Airline both shamelessly used the acronym NWA while that group was popular.

Hilarious. I opened this strip about 30 seconds after we mentioned that exact movie!

Swine With Attitude!

He did a Straight Outta Compton joke years ago, so it’s not like he just heard of the song this year. However, this was probably originally done when the DVD to the film came out and is just now running. Pastis has admitted he draws the strips long before they actually run and things that were current events then are often weeks or months old when the strip finally runs. Making it look like he just learned of it. Though I’d think about eight months would be a long time to wait to run a strip.

Pastis is getting worse daily. I have been a fan for years, but the puns are way bad. Next thing you know, he’ll be weighing down upon the Swami’s liver.
