When you go to Wall-Mart you do have to dress differently. I think spandex short shorts and a tube top would be appropriate. Now…what should Opal wear?

Shouldn’t that be “Get up [comma] Earl?”

If you’d seen the emails I get with photos of wal-mart shoppers you’d know she means for him to put on a pink boa and net stockings with a skid mark on his undies, which are showing through a rip. Now I’ve made myself sick. I never read comments that are this long, I could go on and on and feel pretty sure no one is reading this anyway. blah blah blah

I work for Walmart and I’m going to post this in our back lounge. You do want to look a little nice when you go out, no matter where you go. Has anyone looked at peopleofwalmart.com. I see this everyday.

I avoid Walmart because of the nightmare situation for parking. I am handicapped and the spaces reserved for us are seeming filled with what apprears to be real healthy people.

Sit down Earl. Shee’s not even in the car yet, so you still have another 20-30 minutes to wait.

@Ash - NO, you do not need a comma in that sentence. You can state “Get up.” and drop “Earl” entirely as the noun (the person I’m facing while speaking) becomes understood in this imperitive. It is correct as it stands because “Earl” is the noun being acted upon (or in this case, directed). With a comma you have introduced the classic comma splice. You have seperated the action from the actor. Bad, bad Ash! I wouldn’t get too trippy on the grammar in comics in any case, my screen would be covered with grease pencil correction marks if I didn’t watch myself. I stopped taking even the “good” papers ages ago because editing has virtually evaporated. “Anyone can run spell check and grammer check in Word” is the bane of my existance! Sorry for the semi-rant, I used to edit for a living and it never really goes away!

Any store or restaurant with a dress code stricter than “Please do” is not worth going to.
