My grandmother passed away last year at almost 98 years old. I treasure the memoir she left us, and only wish it had been written in even greater detail.
My first typewriter was an Olivetti portable, that I used throughout my high school and early college years. My mother used an old Royal Office until she learned how to use a computer in her early ’80’s. I have to admit a bit of nostalgia for the old typewriter but really prefer my laptop or PC to write with ( gotta love Spell Check, Thesaurus, etc. )
Your reminiscences about Office Depot reminded me – once I was in an Office Depot and the clerk behind the customer-service counter was talking on the phone. He said, “No, I’m sorry, you can’t use food stamps to buy a printer cartridge!”

Now, Nelson & Opal, I think it’s best to leave Earl alone.

Well it’s only a memoir, so it can’t be that long.

A typewriter? How quaint. But where do you get ribbons for one of those things these days?

Where do you get ribbons for a typewriter? At the same store you buy carbon paper!

Oh leave him alone. He’s not bothering anyone. You can get some things done while he’s out of the way.
