I suppose Willem-Alexander — king of the Netherlands since 2013 — is a plugger? How about French oceanographer Jacques-Yves Cousteau (1910-1997)?

I didn’t know Billy Bob Thornton was a plugger.

I dunno. Nobody around here has any hyphens in their names.

Nice to see a “slim” plugger in the strip.

Hmm, never really thought about it before. My family’s from the South but never knew a Billy Joe or Bobbie Sue…

Do Millennial Southerners have hyphenated first AND last names?

I thought those hyphenated first names were all southern Pluggers. Us northern Pluggers only have the one first name and usually used in the shortened or informal form.

A Southern Plugger has 3 or 4 hyphenated first names…….

The only first-name hyphenates I have known were from southern families (Daryl-Rae, Minnie-Jo, Patti-Sue, John-Thomas) but I have known several from the central plains whose real names only showed up on drivers’ licenses and diplomas. One friend, who went by H. B. (for Honey Bear) claimed he didn’t even know his brothers’ names until they graduated from high school and their names and pictures were in the local paper. His actual first name was John.
