Goldenrod seems to get unfairly blamed for allergies. But it’s not the goldenrod, it is the ragweed. Ragweed grows in the same habitat as goldenrod, and blooms at the same time as goldenrod. The ragweed isn’t noticed, because it has tiny green flowers. But a single ragweed plant can produce a billion allergy-triggering spores.
For years my husband kept saying “I’m coming down with a cold”. I would tell him you can’t always be “coming down with”, you either have it or you don’t. You have allergies. But for some reason, allergies weren’t manly. Funny thing, now he has allergies.
Then there are those allergies that know no “season”: perfume, house dust, tobacco smoke…I discovered early on – much to my delight – that in addition to protecting against the COVID cooties, a proper mask works against seasonal pollen and year-round dust & mold…I may never give mine up…

I’m sensitive to tree pollen and flower pollen in the spring—March to May—but don’t have fall allergies.

We change the AC filter frequently. Indoor allergic reactions must be guarded against also.

Amen… For me, if it’s Cedar that means Spring, if it’s Chrysanthemum it’s summer , if it’s Poinsettias it’s Christmas…
