But the very next day, I ripped it out of your chest because I’m so sick and tired of that miserable song!…

The cafe has a strict policy about Christmas songs, and all but Ponch like it that way! Poncho: earbuds!

Why not keep playing the songs after Christmas? I think you got your answer, Ponch.

    I absolutely despise that song…

“Last Christmas I gave you my heart,

The very next day, you threw it away.

This song is not about Christmas,

But they play it at Christmas, because I say Christmas.”

Seriously, you can substitute any holiday and the song still makes sense…

“Last Halloween, I gave you my heart…”

“Last Easter, I gave you my heart…”

“Last 4th or July, I gave you my heart…”

I’ve sometimes wondered why non-Christmas-related songs like “Winter Wonderland,” “Let It Snow,” and “Frosty the Snowman” are not played after Christmas. Probably because people start getting sick and tired of winter shortly after Christmas.

They still play them occasionally thru the New Year. At least they do here.

So what have we learned? We have learned that we do actually get tired of Christmas music. Violently tired of Christmas Music. I suspect Poncho knew that before he dropped the song. Which is why he did it. Poncho is still Poncho and Christmas is over for this year. YAAAAY!! next…

I get that way after a couple of days! I say no Christmas music unit December 15th or later.

If they wouldn’t start playing them in October, I might still be up for some after-Christmas songs (especially ones like “Frosty the Snowman”).

I get sick of most Xmas songs long before the actual holiday, though there are some I actually enjoy hearing (mostly ones that are rarely played and so have not been played to death). But I’d been happy to never hear most of the constantly overplayed ones, like “Jingle Bells” or “We Wish You a Merry Xmas”, ever again. I certainly don’t want to hear them after the holiday is over. As for this particular song, it is definitely belongs to the overplayed category of Xmas songs. It is now probably the George Michael song that gets the most airplay (and it will get even more in the future due to the sad irony of him dying on Xmas), and yet I’d say it’s among his weaker hits. I could easily name two dozen of his songs that are vastly superior. It’s regrettable that for many people it’s the only song of his they know.
