How many of us have dogs who have actually peed on a fire hydrant? I have had dogs for most of my life, and only my current one has ever used a fire hydrant. For both, uh, necessities. I had no idea I would end up with that kind of problem! On the hydrant, not near it. Female dog. I have always walked my dogs, so for the others, it wasn’t lack of opportunity. Just lack of interest.
When I adopted my Lab-collie mix from the neighboring city animal control center, I had t take my very barky terrier-Lab mix to meet him first. We had to go around to the fenced-in visitor meeting pens, and Joy barked her terrier best at the larger dog behind the fence. He sedately studied her, then lifted his leg and peed on her face. It shut her right up. The attendant then put the three of us in a much larger, neutral fenced in area, with both dogs on leashes, but by then Joy had submitted to behaving with the new guy. I was able to pick him up two days later, without Joy in the car. Being both Labrador and collie he was intelligent enough to learn his new name on the half hour drive home.

I guess I should be impressed that Poo Poo is able to lift his leg and pee backwards onto his precious.

We don’t have fire hydrants in my neck of the woods. However, that poor phone line junction box…
