Actually, yes! I rather liked Prickly City in the beginning. I know people don’t believe me, but the “before” artwork here looks a lot more like Scott’s political cartoons. But then, more than once, I have heard that Scott isn’t doing these dailies anymore. (Eric Alee?)
But most of all, there was an “innocence” to the early Prickly City strips. It was a “feel”; I don’t exactly know how to describe it. But those of us who have followed Prickly City from the beginning might know what I’m talking about.
Among other things, back in those days, Winslow had legs!
“Now, the general says, SIR! We can leave the stage. I said, great, General, let’s go, I’ll follow you! And he goes like this, right here, Sir! I said, General there’s no way I can make it down that ramp without falling on my ass, General. So, I said, is there like something else around? Sir, the ramp is ready to go! So, now I have a choice. I can stay up there for another couple of hours until I’m rescued OR I can go down this really steep, really … really, really, really, it’s an ice skating rink, it’s brutal, so I said, General, get ready because I may grab you so fast. Now, he’s standing there, big strong guy, and he’s got these shoes, but they’re loaded with rubber on the bottom, ’cause I looked, the first thing I did I looked at his shoes, then I looked at mine, very, very slippery. So, I end up saying, Okay, General, I will only grab you if I need you and the stage was higher than this one and the ramp was probably ten yards long, this was a steel ramp, it had no handrails, it was like an ice skating rink!”— President of the United States, Donald Trump, last night at his rally, telling a heartwarming tale of red-blooded American courage about that one time he risked his life walking down a ramp with the help of the Army.
I started reading this strip late last year or early this one. It was only recently that I found out what sort of animal Winslow was meant to be. But of course, after today’s strip, I hit the back to the beginning arrow and sampled those early strips.
It’s always interesting to see how much the drawing style of a comic can evolve over the years. It generally becomes more polished, as is the case here, but the earlier, cruder, style can have its own appeal.
Former national security adviser John Bolton said in an interview with ABC’s Martha Raddatz aired Sunday night that he hoped President Trump would not be elected to a second term.
“I hope it will remember him as a one-term president who didn’t plunge the country irretrievably into a downward spiral we can’t recall from,” Bolton said in the interview, when asked how he thinks history will remember Trump.
“We can get over one term. I have absolute confidence — even if it’s not the miracle of a conservative Republican being elected in November. Two terms, I’m more troubled about.”
Bolton said he didn’t believe Trump “fully understands the democratic process” or the Constitution and doesn’t appreciate the “proper role of the presidency.”
He also criticized Trump’s style of governance, warning that under the current president there’s “no coherent basis, no strategy, no philosophy.”
“And decisions are made in a very scatter shot fashion, especially in the potentially mortal field of national security policy,” Bolton added. “This is a danger for the republic.”
“Frankly I think we’re way ahead of ourselves if you want to know the truth. We’ve done too good a job, because every time we go out with 25 million tests, you’re going to find more people so then they say ‘oh, we have more cases in the United States.’ The reason we have more cases [is] because we do more testing than any other country by far.”

We all have old pictures we’re embarrassed by. I’m looking a lot like mine from the 60’s these days; minus the mustache, fringe, and bell bottoms.

Or is he once again ‘bearing false witness against his neighbor’?
