You need to find someone else to ask your questions kid. Your dad is very slow on the up tick.

That’s actually a far more logical answer than what I normally hear from believers in a deep state.

With all the extra weight that flew in Wednesday, Florida is going to sink even lower into the ocean.

The Deep State is what the GOP invented to take the blame for their mistakes.

He’s obviously part of the conspiracy to keep the young from discovering just how deep it goes. (Really, JUST kidding.)

Actually, the “deep state” is like “dark matter”. It is something given a name because we don’t really know that it exists but it would conveniently explain our lack of knowledge of what’s really going on. Convenient does NOT equal True. As there are alternate mathematical concepts to describe how the universe is behaving, there are alternate explanations for political failure other than massive, cryptic conspiracies.

The deep state is the government employees that remain in place through all the changes in elections. They carry out the orders of those who are elected. In general, they are pretty much ignored by the elected officials and continue to do whatever they are being paid to do- deliver mail, process tax returns, etc, for years. They are defined as “deep state” by Republicans who need to find someone to blame for the fact that the country isn’t perfect, which may have some validity. The step off into the Twilight Zone occurs when they start to believe these people are part of a some left wing conspiracy which is designed to keep the Democrats’ programs going no matter who is elected. Since the Democrat’s programs usually work and the Republicans are pretty bad at actually running a government, that may even have some validity, too.

Believers in a ‘Deep State’ conspiracy obviously don’t realize just how silly such an idea is. They think the government is organized enough to be pulling off some sort of Machiavellian plot against the rest of us. Bureaucracy and complicated plots are mutually exclusive. I’ve yet to see a bureaucracy manage to be competent enough to do the job they’re supposed to do without fouling up. And they’re supposed to be organized enough to be plotting? They need to rein in their over-active imaginations.

Florida is where the nut cases went in winter. The state motto of northern states was "-40 keeps the riff raff out. It now applies to the Darwinian evolution of those too crazy to leave.
