    I am still regularly staggered that it’s apparently more economical to import apples from the other side of the planet rather than the town a hundred or so km away, which by the way just celebrated their excellent apple crop with a cider festival.

    I guess it’s what someone wants to be paid for something that causes such situations. On a perhaps slightly related note, I wonder why there are logging trucks loaded with logs hauling both directions up and down I-5 in Washington and Oregon.

    I have difficulty figuring out why people don’t like those word problems. They are to help you in the real world. After all, if someone is going to give you a problem involving numbers, are they going to give you an equation or are they going to tell you what the problem is in words?

    Did you know, that when Johnny Appleseed ran around the Midwest planting apple seeds, His idea to do it,was so the pioneers would be able to have hard apple cider ?
