Remember, this strip is set in the 1960’s. There were no cable or internet back then. That what we did after a long week of school. Looking forward to seeing cartoons on Saturday.
I remember The Lone Ranger, Flintstones and Jetsons in the Saturday morning line up, but not much of anything else. I also like watching Roller Derby in the afternoon.
Don’t forget Mighty Mouse, Snagglepuss, Augie Doggie, Heckle and Jeckle, Snooper and Blabber, Quick-Draw McGraw and Baba Louie, Huckleberry Hound, Pixie and Dixie, Yogi Bear and Boo Boo……. The list goes on and on.Those were the days. We thought they would never end.But they did.
I loved the Merry Melodies, Bull Winkle and Rocky, Aesop’s Fables, Fractured Fairy Tales,Tom and Jerry, and Wile E Coyote with the Roadrunner. Also Heckle and Jeckle and Woody the Woodpecker!
Saturday Morning cartoons on free TV were killed off by local news and do-gooders who decided children’s TV should be educational. Animaniacs actually did an episode where they were told cartoons were being forced to be educational, and the characters reacted with disgust. They were all too prescient.
