Love al the turkey leftover comments and stories. Hmmm, Red must be right handed, is that why I always see Rovers head poking out of the lower right side. The olde quick scrap give away move.
For some reason, I hate being asked “What’s for dinner”. When one of my daughters asks, I always answer, “Food.” If they ask what kind, I say, “Edible.” If they want to know bad enough, they can come into the kitchen…and help.
When you’ve had enough turkey, strip the carcass, bag the meat in freezer bags, add broth and freeze. The broth prevents freezer burn and you always have makings for gravy. That’s what I’m doing today. Then my wife will make bone broth.
I was traumatized years ago by being stuck with ALL the turkey leftovers after a big family Thanksgiving. Over thirty years later, leftover turkey still makes me slightly nauseous.
If anyone is looking for a good way to disguise the turkey, look up a recipe for Chicken Pepe and substitute turkey. The green peppers and cheese disguise it fairly well.
I have only ever heard non-cooks mention that they don’t like/won’t eat leftovers. They assume their “caretaker” will provide an entirely fresh menu daily. I have never heard the non-cook in the family say, “I really prefer the leftovers. It saves so much time for us to spend together.” Or, “how about if I handle the meals for the next month?” No, it’s “what’s for dinner?” – the second you open your eyes in the morning.

Red’s prayers need to be more specific.

I haven’t thought of Chicken A La King for decades. Wonder if they still have it in the can. Mmmm

as a kid the best leftover creation, for me, was my aunt’s turkey pot pie.

I don’t know if I’ve sever seen a smile on Martin’s face before. I figured him for a permanent scowl.

God is not for granting wishes. Give thanks for what you have. There are many that have less.

Very nice – not sure if I’ve ever seen the entire family in one panel. Love the June Cleaver look of the mother!

I have the feeling Martin is the culprit. That guilty look on his face!
