The school bus ride home was always mayhem. Everyone screaming and talking @ once. We were last off, so we always had all the good neighborhood gossip by then. Fond memories of how great we had it. Almost May, ready for the getting out of school for summer episodes. Pretty soon, porch, coffee, Red and River, and watching the sun fuse over the White Mountains of Cowhampshire.
I wonder if Rover waits there on the front step all day? We have a security camera in the kitchen, and have discovered our dog will sit by the sliding glass door when we are gone, watching for us to come home. All day, if need be.
Our dog would go crazy when she heard our doorbell, but the same pitch doorbell was always used in The Simpsons and at the end of an advertisement. If you knew it was coming up you could watch her and wait.
I was two blocks from both my elementary school as well as high school. They were right next to each other. I think that’s why my grandparents and mom decided to move there. I only started taking a bus later to go to junior college, lol!

Rover always knows when Red is near, with or without the screaming kids!

My wife said our Scottie’s ears would raise up before I even got close to the house. She would be ready for me when I walked in the door.

My dogs could always tell it was me by the sound of my current vehicle. They never had false alarms. Dogs are amazing critters!

I believe my dogs can hear a squirrel thinking about trying to get to the suet block … when they are asleep, inside, on the other side of the house.

I always thought that Rover spent his days at the bus stop, waiting for Red to come back.

We were always kindof quiet on the bus. Except for the daily attempt to get the bus up to the speed limit.

Since dogs don’t have the manual dexterity to set alarm clocks, they have to improvise.
