What sort of tax on bodily liquids? Five shekels (or whatever was the Roman currency) per liter or something?

Why in the world would you tax urine and how would you know how much to charge?

Interesting trivia about the bowling pins. They’re 4.75" wide by 15" tall. Which would make the circumference also 15"

If you didn’t pay the tax, would Vespasian confiscate the urine?

Actually he placed a tax on public toilets. “Pecunia non olet” meaning “Money doesn’t smell” comes from that. Also the italian word for public toilets, “vespasio”

Urine was also used in tanning process but as Janos said, that’s not what he taxed.

My monthly water bill has a fee for sewer usage. Not a tax, but about the same thing.

…as round; assuming you measure around the widest part.

There was a time when Mr. Potato Head did not include the head; one had to use a potato provided by mom. Then later along came the styrofoam ones.

So, what is the definition of “round” here? Perhaps the circumference at the widest part equals the height? Dunno. Without an explanation, this is simply word salad.

it was a commodity. used in tanning and dyeing and collected in bulk at parties and drinking houses up till the 1600s when they discovered how to make ammonia & nitrates
