The miners must’ve had a week’s worth of clothes or something while waiting for their laundry to be shipped to the Sandwich Isles and back to Californy.
OK, it’s a small country. However, how can the country have more cars than people? Are they unsold and sitting in a dealership? Or are the number of underaged children disproportionate to the population?
I was thinking Puerto Rico might have more cars. (Yeah, I know it’s a USA territory.) I often stay there. You can see families with 3 or 4 of the same model car. They scavenge parts of the old ones. One source say 661 cars per 1000 PR; but I bet it doesn’t cover the unregistered ones.
1849, gold rush… I doubt they sent anything to get washed. They did it themselves or they didn’t at all. Not to mention that they had no idea there was a place on Earth called Honolulu.
I had a cat that trained herself to use the toilet. I was wondering about the unused litter box until I heard the toilet flush and saw her sitting there with her paw on the lever. She was the same cat that hit the keyboard and watched what happened on the monitor.
I had a friend who taught his cat to use the toilet. Don’t know whether he used the Mingus Method or not, but it worked. Cat even flushed afterwards. [And yes, I did actually see a demonstration. Amazing.]

Those miners probably got awfully ripe waiting for their laundry.
