Tonight I have yet another story from the annals of True:

A dentist has been advertising on local radio that he can help you “overcome your insurmountable fear of dentistry.” I was amused, of course. How does one overcome the insurmountable? Later that week I had an appointment to get my teeth cleaned, so I told my hygienist about the spot, emphasizing the word “insurmountable.” She nodded and said, “Oh, that’s good.”

I was taken aback; I thought she would laugh. “Uh, do you know what ‘insurmountable’ means?” I asked her.

“Oh, that’s like a really big fear, right?”

“Right,” I conceded. We went on to other topics…

When first seeing the drawing of Mr. Ceplecha, I thought I was viewing Jay Leno. It’s that jaw line…

I have a few 26-sided thing-a-ma-jigs, I call them letter dice for my Scattergories games.

Higher altitudes have less air, making creating lift more difficult. Bumble bees have poor aerodynamics so that is an amazing bee.

RBION got the rhombicubictehadron item backwards. The 26 sided solid drawn is a rhombicubictehadron. But, there are other 26 sided which do not qualify as rhombicubictehadra.

A person with 26 personalities is called "Sybil’.

In Tibet they call it a ‘high mass murderer bee’.

The orchid is considered beautiful by Linda Lovelace fans.

Redwood Falls Jonathon should have known from Army tradition that names have meaning.

I tried to look up the tree line for some context on that bee fact, but it seems that it isn’t a fixed altitude, more to do with the local environment. Still it’s amazing that an insect so associated with plants would manage to exist at such high altitude.

I love orchids and grow several kinds but I doubt I’ll be adding the Gastrodia Agnicellus to my collection! It looks like it is carnivorous!
