As I recall in the late 1950’s you sat in your car while THEY pumped your gas, checked your oil and tire pressure… True service!! (And yes I know, some states still don’t allow you to pump your own gas)
Happy Tuesday, good Folks. Feel like a joke? Here’s another trucker number. Yesterday’s got a good response. This makes me for to be very happy! Here we a-go-go!
A trucker stops at a rural diner to get some coffee. Looking around, he sees the only open seat was at the far end of the counter. He goes over and starts what turns out to be a great conversation with a farmhand next to him. After a while the farmhand gets up to leave and says, “Y’know what? You’re a good ol’ guy! I’m gonna go up to the register and tell them that I’m paying your ticket. When I get the waitress to look over just give a thumbs up”. “Mighty kind of ya, stranger!” the trucker says and returns to his coffee. The farmhand goes up to the register and tells the waitress, “See that guy at the end of the counter giving a thumbs up? He’s paying for my meal.”
Yeah, back in the day I had a Springer Spaniel who just loved the water. Don’t tell me she was only 30% wet after shaking off — even those few times when the shaking off didn’t reach me.
According to this site there were jump centers at gas stations, and I think RBION used this site as the source of information for this posting. In fact I think they may frequently use this site as a source of material. https://didyouknowfacts.com/facts/in-the-1950s-there-were-jump-centers-at-gas/

I was a kid in the 1950’s, and I don’t remember any trampolines at gas stations.

Don’t serve that coffee to Mr. Bean. He’s already going crazy all day long!

Why would the FDA even recommend a caffeine dosage?

The FDA has a minimum daily requirement for caffeine? I’m caffeine deficient! Oh, it’s a maximum. Well, I’m still deficient.

The dogs may shake dry but they can’t shake the wet dog smell.

So the gas stations with trampolines gave rise to punitive damage lawsuits?

Do they still make Jolt cola with twice the sugar and all the caffein? Or was it twice the caffein and all the sugar?

Gas service stations in the 50s had attendants to pump gas. People were not allowed to pump their own gas.

Wet dogs might be more welcome if they didn’t shake themselves dry around people.
