The sock problem goes away when you buy all the same color, size and brand of socks. You don’t need to worry about matching socks. They all match.
If May 9 is National Lost Sock Memorial Day, then May 10 must be the day people find those other missing socks.
There’s a laundromat in my neighborhood called The Found Sock.

I’ve got one, the other 1/2 of the pair was worn out.
When my socks go in the hamper I always pin them together with a large safety pin. (a box of 50 for about a buck). I haven’t lost a sock in decades.
Or do what I do. From April to December socks.
I wait for a month – if the lost sock doesn’t show up, it gets tossed in the garbage.
Unmatched socks make great dust cloths, and are useful to unfog the inside of your car windshield.
