Can’t squirrels have door-to-door salesbirds? I remember as a kid, Mom getting Avon and Tupperware people at the door. So why not for the animal world, (at list in the comic strip universe)?

Been having a woodpecker knocking on the side of my apartment for the last month, often yes right at first light…

One time I saw a woodpecker peck my sister’s cat.

This is how the classic cartoon character Woody Woodpecker came to be. Creator Walter Lantz and his wife Grace were honeymooning in a cabin, and a noisy woodpecker kept them awake that night. Grace suggested to Walter to make a cartoon about the bird.

My boss has a woodpecker that seems to have a preferred spot just outside of his home office. I hear him often on our TEAMS calls.

When I was a kid a woodpecker (actually a flicker) took to hammering on our chimney flashing every morning at daybreak. After several days I was tasked to stop him. A .22 rifle ended the problem.

At least he was only sleeping and not hibernating!
