    I think this may be an American expression. In case you’re not familiar with it, seeing pink elephants means drunk or hallucinating. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seeing_pink_elephants

    Random Musings:New Elephant Joke: Why did the elephant paint himself pink before getting in his car? So he could pull this kind of stuff on any cop who might pull him over.

    The only manifestation of pink elephants I’ve ever had to deal with came in my breakfast cereal. Does anyone remember Post’s Crispy Critters, from the 1960s? The jingle was that they were “the one and only cereal that comes in the shape of animals.” The weird part was that at some point they added pink elephants to the mix. I didn’t think about it when I was five, but in hindsight, I’ve often wondered what they were thinking.
