Why not? There’s a Master Photographer in Canada who has had great success with books and calendars on outhouses (though certainly not his primary subjects).

Half of the clean water we use today goes to flush urine into the sewer. Furthermore, urine is sterile – except in cases of severe infection (e.g. bladder infection or Ebola – and those are easily neutralized by heating). It is an important industrial resource for countless consumer products, e.g. shampoo, and fertilizer. Cow urine is the primary source currently. As clean water becomes scarcer (i.e. more expensive), urinals for both sexes that route to a collection system will become more important to avoid wasting clean water.

Collect your own urine in a jar and mix with water and wood ashes for a high quality fertilizer for your garden (proportions are very important, but too complex to go into here – look it up).

In the meantime, I’ve seen this poem posted many places on visits to California:

If it’s brown, flush it down.If it’s yellow, let it mellow.

There is actually a book entitled The History of S#@t, but is more like the history of toilets. It´s in the Philosophy and History section.
