I always told my recently deceased wife that she was lucky because I have no family to speak of which meant she had no “In-Laws” and I found out after she died how annoying her family is because they didn’t “care” that she died and didn’t care when MIL died either (their sister)

I don’t want to annoy you
This good thing, that I got
’Cause if I do, I will surely
Surely annoy a lot
’Cause your relatives are louder
Than any ones I know
It’s like thunder, lightning
The way they hit trees (and nerves) is frightening
Oh they better not knock, knock
On wood, baby

Perhaps a visit from Grandma Sourpuss would put things in perspective.

Snow, they’re really annoying in the early mornings when you’re trying to sleep!

Just now (and also in spring) the partridges are drumming in the woods. It’s not very loud, but it goes on for hours and it gets tiresome.
