If aliens landed in Central Park, they would conclude dogs were the dominant species on Earth after observing the humans cleaning up after them, and that makes perfect sense to me.
I think cats have more to brag about. We feed them, scoop their litter, give them cuddles, spoil them with catnip and treats and they don’t even have to do any tricks!! No “play dead” or “sit” for cats. They do what they want, when they want. They aren’t expected to protect the family either. They got the best deal, if you ask me!
It has been theorized that canids domesticated themselves. The ones that were less afraid and wanted easy food, slowly got themselves used to approaching the primates with all that food.

Well then learn to use the toilet properly. I don’t even need you to flush it, just make it in the bowl instead of next to the bowl.

And they’ll think our slobbering and drooling is cute; bad breath and all!

I read that it took 10,000 years for dogs to get domesticated. That’s some commitment.
