Wow, more politics in my comics, time to whittle down the list again. It’s not a pro- or con-Beck thing for me, I simply don’t read comics for political opinions, though I often find comic opinions in politics.
It sounds like the people longing to escape from political opinion have a desire to be locked in a room in a year of their choosing (but they’ll never find the right year since it doesn’t exist). Goodbye, Homeward. I hope you find your bliss.
The one thing one rarely hears about Joe McCarthy is that despite all his real faults and the severe damage he did to the reputation of anti-Communism, there WERE several hundred Soviet spies in several branches of government, including the State and Treasury Departments, the Army, and most damaging of all, the Manhattan Project. It’s all in the KGB archives before Putin had them sealed again.
I have many criticisms of Glenn Beck (especially his religiousity), but I’ll take him any day over that snarling Lefty Keith Olbermann who must be kept in a room with a slab of raw horsemeat when not on the air.
As for Swifties, I remember when they were first popular, but funny though the entries above may be, none of them follow the rules. The pun must involve someone’s name, as in the eponymous “‘Where is my electric rifle?’, asked Tom swiftly.”
(I selected that example because I recently read that the inventor of the Taser based the name on “Thomas E. Swift’s Electric Rifle”, a reference to a real Tom Swift story that he had read.) But that’s pretty far off the topic so I’ll stop now.
The people who want to escape the political scen are the liberals because they’re not happy themselves with the bleeep going on in their own administration.
