Forty years ago, I worked in the video department of a large medical school here in Dallas. One of my co-workers was born without fully developed arms—his left arm came down to a point below the elbow and his right was a conical projection up at the shoulder with a vestigial thumb. But he could do ANYTHING! He could put a mini-cam on his shoulder and shoot, he could ride a motorcycle—I’m talking anything.
So, the point of this is…every year for the department Christmas party we would spend a week or so putting together a tape for the party, full of jokes and skits and general silliness.
The best joke ever was a simple tight shot on a book cover and it zoomed out to see Robert reading, of course, A Farewell to Arms. No comment, just that.
There were administrators who wanted to fire somebody, until they found out it was HIS idea!
Glad to see a cartoonist catch up with us from forty years ago ;)
