Socialized healthcare can be constitutional if the states run it. (Like our socialized education system.) At least there is some competition between states and localities. Having the federal government run it requires an amendment. Not that such “technicalities” have stopped Obama so far.
Who’s this “we” of which you speak? Some do want it, others do not. Personally I’ve been getting socialized medicine for many years now – it’s called VA Health Care.
Obama used working people - which is 99.5% of Americans - with messages such as ‘hope’ and ‘change’. If we DON’T demand single payer, yes socialized medicine, and soon – what little hope this country has of steering away from the financial cliff corporate medicine is sending America off from will be irrevocable. Remember, costs associated with protections (meager at present though they may be after years of corporate-written dismantling) in these sectors are all socialized: banking, food and drug, EPA, fire, police, roads, public education, law. Follow Europe’s lead.

Who needs thought, reason, or reality when there’s an all-purpose scare word handy?

Obama used to be open about his hopes for socialized medicine. Now he denies that this is what his goal is. Change we don’t want and don’t believe in.
