I’ve often wondered if those state troopers ever realize what jokes most people consider them to be when they run with the coaches.

I just wonder whose badge those troopers have to kiss to get those speciai sideline assignments. It is definitely one of the better “seats” in the house.

That’s strange, Tex. Most of the sideline security I’ve seen are facing the fans. That’s a good way to be on the lookout for problems, but give a very poor view of the game.

Actually, the sideline is about the WORST place to watch a game. I’m a Television Engineer and have worked on some of the production trucks. You can’t really see anything unless it is right in front of you, and then you can only see it from the side. Why do you think they put the cameras UP in the stands. The best view is from the pressboxes or camera deck. That’s also why they put the assistant coaches up there to watch the game and feed that info to the coach for calling the plays. A birds-eye view beats the sidelines any day!

in some multiple use stadiums, the lowest seats (nearest the field) are covered up rather than sold, since the view is so restricted. teams feel it’s better to have signage than empty seats showing on the sidelines.
