That investors’ group chose not to associate with him. That’s their right. The National Football League is an entertainment business, the purpose of which is to make money by selling its product to spectators and broadcasters (just as the purpose of radio broadcasting is to make money by acting as a conduit between listeners and advertisers). Rush Limbaugh is enough of a controversial figure that his persona would have made the NFL’s product less marketable.
If William Clay Ford, Sr. died, and Michael Moore sought to buy a stake in the Detroit Lions from his heirs, I suspect the reaction would have been similar.
PlainBill, you need to be corrected on one point. Rush was not convicted of any crime. He paid a fine and agreed to undergo therapy in return for all charges being dropped, if you are referring to his “doctor shopping” arrest.
The two guys who did The Bullwinkle Show were on opposite sides of the political fence, but they had complementary senses of humor. They’d call out silliness wherever they saw it, but in such a way that neither side would take offense.
Spreading WHAT “lies?” That a lot of liberals in St. Louis like football and aren’t as inclined to support a losing team run by a guy on record as hating them? That a lot of football fans are patriots and don’t take kindly to supporting a losing team run by a guy on record as hoping that the President of the United States “fails?” That a lot of football fans are women who don’t care to be characterized as Nazis? That a lot of St. Louis fans live in an urban area and don’t like the notion of a team owner who hoped that Chicago during the DNC would be met with fire, riots and burning cars?
Now, yeah, I know the right wing definition of “lie” is “Something we don’t want people to believe to be true,” but let’s leave that aside. Let’s talk about Trucker Ron’s statement that NFL criminals are only welcome if they aren’t conservatives. You got any PROOF of that? Oh, no, of course not. In the real world, we call that “making things up.” The dictionary calls that a “lie.”
I also hope that Obama fails in his efforts to destroy our country by implementing policies that can’t possibly work because they’re based on liberal fantasies. There’s nothing unpatriotic about hoping such unconstitutional schemes fail to be implemented. As for people not wanting to be characterized as Nazis, it’s the liberals who labeled Bush as one before he even took office. Rush has never advocated riots in Chicago or anywhere else.
As for my statement, how come those criminals are welcome to play in the NFL? Never mind their politics, what the ^&%&%& are they doing representing the league when a man who’s NEVER been convicted of any crime or of hurting anyone or any animal is unwelcome? That is what gives the appearance that having the “wrong” political view is worse than animal abuse, rape, or manslaughter.
Go ahead, Ron, let’s see you source that about Bush being labeled a Nazi before he took office. Give us a link, why doncha?

As to Obama, after eight years where we had thousands of our brave soldiers die in Iraq for NOTHING, millions of Americans out of work, more debt racked up than in the previous 200 years combined, hundreds of thousands made homeless, and our economy ruined, you have some freaking nerve talking about the President trying to “destroy our country.” Sorry, the Republicans already did their level best to do that, and now the only decent thing they can do is get out of our way, sit down, shut up and let us fix their mess.
