If over-the-counter steroids were still legal (like “andro” was in 1998), would their use still be considered “cheating”? Are currently-legal protein supplements “cheating”? The Babe didn’t have access to them… how about Lasik surgery? “Specs” Torporcer could have used THAT, back in the day…
My point is, there currently is NO reliable test for HGH use and no reliable data that such use actually makes an athlete better; while some doctors claim HGH speeds recovery from injuries, there’s no scientific proof of that claim.
Let MLB and the MLBPA negotiate HGH testing in the next CBA… that’s what CBAs are designed to do!
this arc is a good satire on “doing the right thing.” to even think that “right” is something that needs to be negotiated is silly - and also serves to point out the difference between ‘legal’ and ‘just’ - full marks!
There actually is a reliable HGH test that cost a bundle and uses DNA and you don’t want to know how easy it is to mess up. The Hockey mask and jersey remind to wonder where Chris Pronger really came from. :)
Yeah, Tank has always hovered around the question of guys getting the “right” wrong. Great sense of the Sports mentality. I still await the new Rothlesberger fillets.
Uh, having to prove your innocence absent any evidence that you are breaking the rules is ‘doing the right thing’? IOW, you are assumed guilty until proven innocent? I don’t think so.

One of the many reasons I greatly prefer minor league sports to the primadonnas in the so-called “big” leagues.
