Absolutely, Tank! The whole premise of baseball is adjustments, and the batters have given up their right to try and out-do a shift to GET A HIT (also the point of playing the game!) because to change their swing would “throw them off their rhythm.” Arrrgh! Forget going back to Wee Willie; Tony Gwynn would be shaking his head & laughing his way to hitting .400!
The shift only works because the money is too good for hitting a homer versus the lack of shame over getting out. Joe Madden of the Cubs admitted that in an interview two seasons ago….

Totally agree. The shift works only because batters who can’t use the whole field let it happen to them.
