What a relief. The worst of all Tarzan’s story arcs is concluded.
Six innocent people were killed just because Tarzan shoved his nose where it didn’t belong. Why would he care that two bad guys, who sought to kill a third bad guy, were killed? Couldn’t he find another quest?
A loose end: Monk and Joe’s plan was to let Pomeroy steal the fake map, get his equipment and then follow the real map (see August 27-28th). So the temple of Golconda may exist after all.
So Tarzan gets his gravedigger workout and plants Piggy Swine Pomeroy in an unmarked grave for the Kenyan worms to feast upon. I hope he at least placed the murderous porker face down. On to our next story, this one hopefully with some buxom blonde women…….
Tarzan is very reverent over the guy that snubbed him, left him for dead, and then tried to knife him. Next stop is the Maryknoll Missionaries to have masses said for his soul.
Hmmm. As I commented yesterday, ERB’s Victorian attitudes are sadly in full evidence in this story. Two criminals and six natives are murdered by Lord Pom and we know nothing about them. Lord Pom finally dies and, because he’s of the nobility, his life is portrayed as a kind of tragedy – a nobleman who went bad. I want that much attention paid to the lives the six natives and even to the two criminals!

Tune in next week, when Tarzan learns that Pomeroy had the map upside down and “Goloconda” is an obscure native tribe’s name for Opar

Disappointing story arc. It started out real well and then degenerated. Oh well, back to Lisa St. Ives tomorrow.

So this arc could have been titled “Tarzan digs Seven Graves” and we could have skipped right over the hike to the non-treasure of Golconda.
