Now come on Tarzan. You coulda just jumps on that tree and goes aways. You coulda smells spoors from a mile aways. You just wanna kill big kitty that is what this all about.
After killing the lioness, Tarzan will of course give the victory cry of the bull ape, then walk away, leaving the cubs to die. He does that in one of Celardo’s comics. See: www dot erbzine dot com slash mag38 slash 3877 dot html
I did not like that strip. Mercilessly killing a lioness who tried to protect her cubs is bad enough, but the victory cry… what made Tarzan so proud of his “victory”?! Maybe he could have neutralized the lioness without killing her, but he won’t miss the opportunity to kill a feline. Not Tarzan.
Wonder where usha was? Upwind or downwind either he’d have had warning or the lioness would have had warning and not be startled. It is a cross usha that blows no one information.
Just wondering. We maybe getting these story lines due to copyright parameters, there are different ones in the USA and for different media. 1960,2000,2025 – there are a number of laws, and for ERB to keep the copyrights, they may need to republish these story lines.

Another morbid “reality” scenario.

Tarzan did adopt an orphaned lion cub and named him Jad-bal-ja (in “Tarzan and the Golden Lion”). Jad shows up in several novels after that.
