I wholeheartedly agree with what I interpret as Ted’s message about identity politics, but the cartoon itself is stupid. There are so many better examples out there of weaponized identity politics, such as media pundits saying people shouldn’t vote for Candidate X specifically because he’s a old white man and/or should vote for candidate Y for the sole reason that she’s a woman. Or perhaps people who say nasty things and/or make false accusations about Congressperson Z because of his/her religion. Let’s not forget about all the BS a certain recent President had to deal with because of his ethnic background.

The advantage of the Republican Party is that they also deal in identity politics but only with one identity.

Very often I really dislike Ted Rall political cartoons. This one makes a superb point.

It’s a nice touch that the person whose issues are REALLY important is a white man.

Wait, to what ethnic group does that poor guy belong? If he’s in the “wrong” ethnic group, then a helping hand will not be forthcoming.

Who was it who said that humans are the highest form of life? I think we’re witnessing a counterexample.
