Hello, all cat lovers on Ten Cats especially those who have difficulty getting their kitties to take tablets. I coat the tablet thickly in peanut butter and then pop it in their mouth. Only one cat that I had licked off all the peanut butter and spat the tablet out. Thing is, the peanut butter sticks to their mouth and it takes them ages to get rid of it. The other alternative is Marmite [Vegemite] in Australia but I don’t know if you have anything similar in the USA. It is a yeast extract with a very savoury flavour and cats love it. I also noticed that my cats preferred a glass or china bowl for their water. They don’t like the smell of the plastic when they are drinking. I used to keep two or three water bowls in strategic spots; one near their food bowl, another one at their lookout post and one outside the front door. Of course, the bird bath was another favourite drinking bowl.
Rikkie Tavi cat racing can be really exciting just use a laser pointer like grey hounds use a bunny. They will be off and racing in no time. Just don’t forget to pick up your feet as they go by.
to all: I have a syringe and dropper. I hold Moose and try to pry is mouth open. He clamps down something fierce! The dropper is easier but I have to do it twice because he needs1.5 mil and the dropper is only 1 mil. The syringe holds more but it’s harder to get it to work. I try just prying is mouth open a little on the side like the vet said but that cat is wise to me now.
Hoppy / Blue took it like a man when his foot was healing. He was such a good boy!
Haven’t needed to medicate my cats yet and will try to remember all your helpful hints if needed in the future.Jesse…..am so glad to hear that Blue is even more at home than ever. Every time I see my cats nuzzle the dog I just melt…and believe me, it wasn’t always like that!I suggest that Chesney stay INSIDE, in his warm bed, with some of Annie’s hot tea with honey.
My boy needs 5mg of prednisone every day. He askes for it. Gets up on the toilet so I can reach his mouth. I just use my fingers to open his mouth and toss it to the back. Was gone for a week at Christmas and had a friend give him his pills. She still can’t get over how easy it is to give him his pills. He did the same thing for her that he does for me. Love my kids!!!!

Good morning. Moose HATES the liquid meds and if anyone has a suggestion for getting them into him, I would appreciate it.

Pill Pockets work for pills well if your cats like them-some of mine do.
