    @Mountaingreenery

    The Vet said her stay would be about 2 weeks.First, ‘cause she had to wait to remove the staples, and second ’cause she needs over a weeks worth of antibiotics.The problem is that all three sisters were feral. we can pet them (but not the smallest—-Cole). We cannot get a hold of them to give medicine, or go to the Vet (unless they are really sick and don’t run). They are always looking out at us from behind furniture, etc.We give soft voices, quick pets…but “lap cats” they are NOT!!!So, to make sure they get needed medicine, they have to stay caged at the Vets. Yeah, I know, it COSTS!!!

    ‘designated cat’ – funny! At least you tried Annie. When the weather turns bad, they will complain that they can’t go outside.

    A peaceful Saturday morning everyone.-———-@Mountaingreenery and Noreen Klose: Just to hold one of my neighbors cats so that she could get a pill down his throat. I wrapped him in a blanket but he managed to escape. Any suggestions would be welcomed.-————Be happy and healthy my friends.

    Noreen Its hard enough to get a “tame” cat to the vets! Bless you for wrestling Onyx to the vets. She may not appreciate all you do, but she will live a long and happy life now.Vet care is sooo expensive, have you looked into insurance?I had it, and when Toshie needed 2 years of twice weekly water infusions, it paid tor itself!

    I too hung up the Ten Cats strip in which dear Graham honored a few of us. My son was impressed! Then I took 2 pictures of my Oliver for the cuteness of the day offering! Enjoy.

    My dog has the ‘runs’ after his Vet visit Thursday. I KNEW he would eventually have a reaction to the vaccinations. Sigh. If it rains (or runs?), it pours. LOL

    Barney and Orange Kitty are much closer to working it out, and Barney is no longer afraid of Freddog. He now hangs out all over the house after being forced from the bedroom. Ruby is still confined, but Orange Kitty got in this morning and she chased him out. He seems curious rather than confrontational. When any cat does manage to sneak in she takes it out on me, slashing my ankles from under the bed!

    @QOA Just read last night’s post. Oh, I am SO sorry about the little kitten who passed away at Best Friends. You and Susan did all you could…you all CARED…he, at the end, felt kindness and love. Oh, I am going to cry. Thank you for all you do. Tux, you are one lucky guy…enjoy your weekend with your former foster mom. Tomorrow your forever mom and dad will reclaim you. Hugs.

    @ADream4U Am still anticipating hearing that Watty Jr Jr has returned…. Don’t give up hope.

    A few years ago, I had to give one of my cats (Jodie) some horrible thick gloopy medicine from a syringe as she was bleeding into her stomach and it was the only way to treat it. After getting my arms shredded several times, I came up with a way to do it and not get injured.What I did was kneel on the floor with one knee either side of her. I crossed my feet to prevent her retreating out backwards, and effectively squatted on her (not to squash, but to contain). This sounds bad, but you only need to prevent the cat from climbing backwards over your feet. I was then able to hold her front legs in my left hand and administer the liquid with my right. If you can wrap the cat up in a blanket/towel it would work even better as you would trap the blanket/towel with your legs. Holding her like this prevented her from shredding my arm with the claws on her back legs. She was not harmed by this method of securing her.Another of my cats (Lone Ranger) just wouldn’t take pills, he even defeated a seasoned veterinarian!

    When I had to give tablets to my Persians, there was a problem as Persians have the same amount of tongue, but a much shorter mouth…The way I got around this was to hold the tablet between my thumb and forefinger, and use my middle finger in the side of the mouth just behind the canine teeth to open the mouth. The tablet was slipped in through the side of the mouth and into the back of the mouth, the trick was to (try) and get the pill on top of the tongue ;-)I gave up trying to get a tablet into the front of a Persians mouth. If one of the Persians had to have a tablet during a vet visit (normally a worming tablet), then I always used to administer it as it was easier :-)

    When I had to give a pill to my cat…I’d coat it in butter. It slid right down. If I had to “contain” one of them, I’d use a beach towel and wrap it around and around….not unlike a mummy.

    The vet once gave me liquid meds for the cat, but directions said to administer it under her tongue. I double checked to see if they really meant it. Yes, that is what they wanted. I was lucky to get it in her mouth at all. She has no front claws and we keep the back ones trimmed, but took 2 of us to administer meds. I don’t see how anyone can do it alone. I used to have a cat that would remind me it was medicine time at 9 pm every night. She drank it from the syringe and liked it when I filled it with water so she could have more.it was a dry powder in a capsule that I mixed in a small medicine cup with a little water.

    29 PalmsAfter growing up in Huntington Beach and Newport Beach we too moved where there weren’t crowds of people. Now It’s getting more and more crowded. At least it is pretty up here in the PNW, Well not right now, now all the lawns are brown, and the 2/10 of an inch we got yesterday won’t help much.
