@Beviek, Lovely picture. We had a cross-Labrodor/ Doberman who was a rescue dog and a grey tabby cross-Persian who was a rescue cat. The dog often used to sit next to the cat and wash her face with his very large and wet tongue. The cat just used to sit there looking offended; it was really funny to watch. She was a cat who didn’t seem to mind getting wet; we often found her lying in the bottom of the bath in the warm puddle of water that had pooled up.
2old – cute pictures – I, too, love the cupcake one. Eldo – you are too funny! jesseegooddoggy – I agree that Annie needs an Oliver fix. More Cats Than Sense – love the Chesney picture. I would love to see that photo shoot.
SISTERS, Ore. (AP) — A 26-year-old cat in Oregon has been named the oldest living cat by Guinness World Records. The cat named Corduroy is owned by a family in the central Oregon city of Sisters. His owner, Ashley Reed Okura, has had him since he was a kitten and she was 7. It’s the second time Corduroy has claimed the title. He was first recognized last year until officials discovered another cat, Tiffany Two, which lived to be just over 27. Corduroy reclaimed the title after Tiffany Two’s death. Okura told The Oregonian (http://bit.ly/1JhCCrj ) that Corduroy is still active and in good health, except for some kidney problems. He still hunts on the family’s 160-acre property. For his birthday Aug. 1, Okura bought him a live white mouse from Petco and says he enjoyed it “right away.”

Poor abused little Annie. Those two naughty kitty’s should have placards hanging from their necks which say PUNISH ME NOW.
@Queen The 4th kitty square is on the back of the recliner that Oliver frequents…of course since I put it there he has avoided lounging in that spot. LOL
And I am SO glad for the update on Lightning…may he have found his loving, quiet and forever home. I’ve been saying his name daily hoping for the best.
Ive got good news and bad news on my quest to get a wheelchair accessible van.First the good news. Yesterday i received two donations for a total of just over $100.00.Cool!Now the bad news.Over the past few days I’ve been looking into how i can reduce the cost of acquiring a van. The first idea was to buy a used van and have that converted. I contacted the only company in Oregon that does conversions and was told that they only convert Dodge and Chrysler mini vans for a rear ramp entry. That would cost either thirteen or fifteen thousand dollars. Depending on weather i wanted the “tunnel” welded in to drop the floor was short (just the back third of the van) or long (all the way to the back of the front seats.Toyota and Honda vans are only done as side entry and that would cost between nineteen and twenty two thousand dollars. All that after i purchased the van myself. This brought me back to the tall version of the Ford Transit Connect. Ive seen some customer reviews of the vehicle where they talk about using them for transport of adults in chairs. If it is going to cost twelve to fifteen thousand dollars to buy a van, and thirteen thousand to put the conversion in i might as well buy a new Ford and a portable ramp, and have JUST the tie downs installed. Nope. Ford no longer has the extra tall option for the Transit Connect. Even tho they call it a “xlt”.Crap! So the way i see it now, i’m buying a used Transit Connect (if i can find one in good condition) or a full sized van ($30,000.00+ new) and put a lift on it. (seven to fifteen thousand dollars).Or a used van that has already been converted.Well, i guess that means that i should just concentrate on getting the funding first.Ill still keep an eye out on whats out there.
Two adults adopted at PetCo today. So, right now I have 5 from Susan and the 2 left over from my 3. That makes 7 for the night at Hotel Dutcher. They have their little suit cases all packed and are ready to move to Boulder.
Tomorrow afternoon, I’ll get the 4 that Sara has (that are part of the original 9 I had last month, which part of the 5 I now have). That will put 11 here for the afternoon. (It’s a good thing I have extra litter boxes and a LOT of kitten chow)Dr Susan is bringing her 7 from CA and will be here late tonight. That leaves the 2 little black ones in the shelter that I took for shots yesterday.Total for the trip to Boulder – 20.
Because Dr Susan is bringing her 7, Larry and Susuan will use her Meowmobile for the trip and leave her their car with her to use.
Juggling all of this has been interesting in addition to handling a crisis that took place late yesterday concerning the mama and babies we took to Kanab. It’s being handled but there were way too many phone calls to deal with.
