Here, in Seattle, the delivery crew for replacing poles is way ahead of the installation crew. So a new pole typically lies in the grass verge for 8-12 months, killing the grass and making it difficult for people to get out of their cars. However my male dog likes it, he can mark the top of the pole so when it is installed, he owns the whole block.Alas some graffiti taggers have discovered this trick as well.
I don’t have room for a big tree but I cut a large pine branch or two, place them in water and tie them to the wall to keep them upright from the kitties. Blue and Barney are new this year, and Barney is very playful, so we will see what happens with the ornaments and lights. I’m pretty certain that Chesney, I mean Orange Kitty, had his way with the decorations last year.
Happy – is that the telephone pole the cats chewed up. Love all the cat in trees pictures. Graham should make Ten Cats ornaments. It would be fun to have all the Ten Cats in the Christmas tree.
My table top tree is up and on a timer. No more big ones for me either…just thinking of having to run guy lines from the ceiling and walls to prevent the puddys from knocking it over…and the bulb breakage…’nough said.

Hmmph. My aunt told me a story last night that highly disturbed me. She knew a couple who had a big ol’ tom cat, she wasn’t sure how old he was. One year for Christmas, the wife put up the Christmas tree, and their cat sprayed it. So she took down the tree, and went and got a new one. He sprayed the new one too. So she got fed up, and decided to have the cat put to sleep. All because he did what came naturally to him, and possibly could have been corrected – marking his territory. What is wrong with people, if they think a Christmas tree, something that is only up for a short period of time, is more important than the life of their pet?
Once upon a time, a naive twenty-something wrapped ALL her Christmas presents for her family who was going to visit her Grandfather. She visited on XMAS Eve and stayed the night—-along with her pet cat. When she came down in the morning… ALL the presents were ripped open, and her cat was playing with all the pretty bows. You get the picture? She learned all those years ago to put tree, presents, decorations, etc. in a room with a DOOR.I’m now a “seasoned citizen” no longer a twenty-something. But i never feel badly about making a mistake…i just try my hardest to learn from it, and NEVER repeat it. ;-D I really DO try!
Last Rose.. I was going to reply on your behalf, then thought Naa, she can speak for herself. But Steve has a point, we have so many months of beautiful weather, and most of the rain is just drizzle.

Fortunately, Paul and I just have a small table top tree and Yum Yum is pretty good about ignoring it.

MCTS – great tree pictures today.
We gave up big trees a while back. We have a small table top one now. I don’t know if we’re going to even put it up this year.
I would buy a TC ornament.
