My Toshie always listened carefully to what I had to say……and then turned around and either fell asleep or walked away. So much for conversing with each other.
Found a “human to cat” translation app. It doesn’t work as the cats didn’t even notice the meowing from my iPad. The Windows “Cat Sounds” app on my tablet gets a lot more attention as they sit up, look around or come over to see where I am hiding that cat.
Calvin doesn’t meow or chirp like some cats do. He makes a noise that’s hard to describe. And, he only makes it when he wants food.
His eyes were starting to be runny again and his sneezing was not going away after a week on amox. I talked to Susan about it and she asked my opinion,
I told her that if he was my personal cat, I would have taken him back to the vet and told him to pull the rest of his teeth like I asked him to do in the first place.
So, she talked to the vet on Thurs and he agreed to do it. I took him him over at 5 that evening so Dr D could take him home to do it. (He only words at the vet office on Mon and Thur)
He brought Calvin back to me yesterday morning. I just gave him the last of his pain meds and his breakfast. He seems fine. No sneezing, no runny eyes.
My dog and my cats understand me pretty well (especially the pooch). Heck, their lives revolve around walkies, dining and naps…just a few human words spoken over and over tells me they understand. -——————————————————————————-
Yes, Woof looks a bit washed out today but he is just the sweetest boy ever!!
I noticed that one of Dusty’s kittens has 5 claws on his front paws. Actually it looks like his dewclaw is further down the leg. The dewclaw makes contact with the ground as he walks. He is by far the largest of the litter. His siblings look rail-thin by comparison.
Big Man had his back teeth removed a couple of years ago due to calicivirus. Our vet told us the virus can often settle in the back teeth and it’s best to have them removed. He’s still got a couple of teeth in front, and he eats just fine. The virus hasn’t come back, but occasionally his left eye starts getting weepy, then I just give him some Metacam (not sure if you have it in the US or Canada) in his food once a day for three days and he’s fine.
Meows are not necessary to communicate. One day my cat Johnny Depp jumped up on the table next to the window and looked at the closed Venetian blinds. He tapped the blinds once with a paw then lay down in his bed. I knew immediately that he wanted the blinds opened. When I did, sunlight fell across him in the bed. Perfect communication.

I find that my cats communicate quite well without words. Even “meow” is often optional.

My cat thought I was IN the phone when my Mom put the phone down to her. (I was away, and she was cat sitting)
One more pic of cat communication.
