National IPA Day – First Thursday in August
National IPA Day celebrates the beer known as India Pale Ale Beer.
While the IPA is one of the most popular types of craft beers, it’s also making a resurgence with local microbreweries. Many are experiencing success as their brew finds its way into local restaurants and pubs.
Well, it wasn’t good news about my car, I had bad rotors and bad calipers too. It was not a cheap repair, but at least it’s fixed and I don’t have to worry anymore about my brakes going out on me. I got my car back at 3:00 in the afternoon, so I actually could have gone to work and worked a 6 hour shift (like from 4:00-10:00), but I rather enjoyed taking the entire day off. I went straight from the mechanic’s to my garden where I picked about 4 pounds of green beans and 3 dozen ears of corn (so far, no raccoons in my corn!) and just a few tomatoes. So, aside from paying the mechanic’s bill, it was a very good day.
Remember the other day when I said our cats don’t get treats? Brad left, as usual, about 3:30 this morning.Shortly after that, I head one of the cats meowing. I ignored it. Then it got worse so I got up found Blackjack and Scooter but no Moose. I figured he was sleeping somewhere and didn’t look too hard. Went back to bed. Then the meowing got louder. Fine, get out of bed again, get my egg whites going and look for him. Nowhere to be found.So now I start thinking he’s hurt or sick. The linen closet in the guest bathroom, where we keep the foster babies, has a bifold door. We have to keep a heavy jug of litter in front of it because Blackjack wants to play in there.I move the jug, open the door and there’s Moose…scarfing down kitten chow from the open bag he found on the third shelf up. I have no idea how long he’d been in there. I sent a text to Brad asking is he’d had it open for any reason this morning.
Heard from Brad; apparently Blackjack has moved the half full jug from the door so Brad went out into the garage and got a full one and put there. Between those two things happening quickly, Moose snuck in there and chowed down.
My, those are some snarky treats. They’re almost as bad as those fleas that showed up a few weeks ago. (Although to Oliver, they’re probably a lot tastier.) On another note saw a chickadee and a raven outside. It was raining in the morning, which is fine with me. A little rain in Summer can be quite nice.
