    Today is:

National Roof Over Your Head Day. Now that is a coincidence. When I got home from work last night, I had a phone message from my roofer. I couldn’t call him back then because it was so late – past 10:30 pm. I need to call him back later today (it’s just after 1:20 am now). But he said in the message that he is going to be free to work on the roof over my head next week – possibly on Wednesday. That would be wonderful! I’m scheduled to work that day, from 2:00 – 11:00 pm, but after I set things with the roofer, I’m going to talk to management about taking that day off. I don’t like having people working on the house will nobody home. Besides, I would like to get some pictures of the work in progress. If they don’t give me the day off, I’ll just call in anyway and take paid time off for it. I have lots of PTO hours saved up.

I talked to the roofer recently and back then, he said it could be Dec 21 before he got to my roof. He was delayed a lot by lots of rain in October which put him way behind schedule. I have no idea how many men will be working on my roof, but I’m sure looking forward to finally having it done. He told me earlier that it would take about 2 days to do the roof. I already have Thursday and Friday off next week (I requested those days a while back). So, fingers crossed that this time next week, I’ll have my new roof started.

I just finished reading yesterday’s comments and want to add my well wishes to bbear for a full recovery soon. And, like Happyx3 said, Do what the nurses tell you to do. Nurses are amazing people. We’ll miss your pictures here for the next few days, but you need to take care of yourself now. Get well soon!

Calm down, people. There’s an axiom for writers, supposedly said by Charles Dickens, “Make them laugh, make them cry, make them wait.” That’s good storytelling. Plus, a character must earn their happiness for that happiness to matter to the reader. And we KNOW that Annie would never give dear Woof a sad ending.

OT . . judy2eyes and Whisplicka . . I found all the Little Friskies Pate I need and more at a KEY FOOD with a parking lot in FLUSHING, Queens (it figures, LOL). My son said he first checked out a neighborhood KEY FOOD (no parking facilities) and voila, there they were!!! KEY also had another item I’ve needed for months but Stop + Shop didn’t have (Sugar Free Orange Marmalade, both Polaner + Smuckers). I hate to drive to that KEY due to local road/highway construction (at least 5 years and no end in sight) but this makes it well worth the effort. Plus there is a Chase Bank using the same parking facilities as the KEY. Yesterday, the cashier at S & S told me I wasn’t the only one asking about Friskies, and recommended I order on-line from, Chewy. Kinda surprised she said that.

I’ve been SO busy running around yesterday and today that I just found out about bbear’s accidental fall and hospitalization. Backtracked to yesterday and read noreenklose post. OMG. Glad he is in a top hospital getting the best treatment.

So Chesney gets a present, but Woof doesn’t? No fair! Hopefully, Santa will have something nice for Woof. This story’s gotta have a happy ending, right? On another note, heard three squirrels while out walking today.

I have been seeing small flocks of what looks like Hooded Mergansers.

It’s kinda hard to tell when I’m going 55mph past the estuary. And, distinctive markings or not, they are kinda small.
